What is the 2025 Energy Bill Relief extension?
The Commonwealth Government has announced a $1.8 billion extension of the 2024-25 Energy Bill Relief Fund. Victorian households and eligible small businesses with electricity bills may receive up to $150 in energy bill rebates from 1 July 2025.
As part of the extension, eligible customers in embedded networks can apply for an additional payment of $150 via the Victorian Energy Compare website.
How do embedded network customers apply for the Energy Bill Relief extension?
Embedded network households and eligible small businesses will need to apply for the $150 Energy Bill Relief payment via an application on Victorian Energy Compare from 1 July 2025.
Embedded network customers of Origin, Energy Locals, WinConnect and Momentum will have their bill relief automatically applied to their bills and should contact their retailer if they have any questions.

Yes. If you received the 2024-25 Energy Bill Relief payment and still meet the eligibility requirements, you can apply for the additional $150 payment.
Non-embedded network customers, and customers of Origin Embedded, Energy Locals, WinConnect and Momentum will have their payment automatically applied to their bill via their retailer.

What information do I need to apply?
Your electricity bill from your embedded network operator. You must provide a copy of your bill or invoice that shows your energy usage. This can be a PDF, photo or scanned copy.
You will also need to provide details of your chosen form of ID.

Renting households and small businesses can access the Energy Bill Relief if they meet the eligibility requirements.
Am I eligible for the Energy Bill Relief if I live in a caravan park?
Yes, you may be eligible. Residents of caravan parks are often part of an embedded electricity network - this means you receive your electricity through the park operator or landlord, not directly from an energy retailer.
If your caravan park is in an embedded network, you can apply for the payment on the Victorian Energy Compare website.

To reduce administrative burden and due to the complexity of embedded networks and system limitations, eligible households and small businesses in embedded networks will receive one payment of $150.
Do embedded network operators need to apply for the 2025 Energy Bill Relief extension on behalf of their customers?
No. Victorian households and eligible small businesses in embedded networks can access the payment via an application on the Victorian Energy Compare website. Households and eligible small businesses will receive a one off payment of $150 which will be paid directly to the customer via cheque payment or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).
How do I receive the Energy Bill Relief payment if I am an embedded network customer of Origin, Energy Locals, WinConnect, or Momentum?
If you are an embedded network customer of Origin, Energy Locals, WinConnect or Momentum, you will automatically receive your Energy Bill Relief payment through your retailer. Contact your retailer for further details.
Can I apply for the Energy Bill Relief program more than once?
No. As part of the energy bill relief extension, only one payment is available per embedded network household and small business. If you hold multiple accounts, you'll get the rebate on one of the accounts under your name.
Can I receive this payment for gas as well?
No. The energy bill relief payment only applies to electricity accounts.

What happens after I submit my application?
After you complete your submission, your application will be reviewed. If all the information provided in your application meets the requirements of the program, you will receive an email confirming your application has been approved. If the information provided in your application does not meet the requirements of the program, or there is information missing, we will contact you to request more information or to notify you of the outcome.
I cannot find my address when I try to apply online.
If you are unable to find and select your service address when applying online, select the closest property to your own address. Please then email us at ebr.support@deeca.vic.gov.au with a copy of your most recent electricity bill, explaining that you were unable to select your service address. Someone will be in touch to assist.

Can I provide additional documentation to support my application?
Yes, you can provide more information when submitting your application which may speed up the application process. This can be beneficial if you are unable to upload an original PDF copy of your electricity bill. When submitting your application, you can upload additional supporting documents on the confirmation page. Documents must be in a PNG, JPG or PDF format.
