Visit the Victorian Energy Compare website at compare.energy.vic.gov.au. Select the energy type you want to compare and then tell us a little about where your household or business to get started.
Tip: If you want to compare both electricity and gas, select one and add the other energy type when you get to the Available Offers page.
Answer a few questions about your household’s energy usage to help us build an energy profile. We will use your energy profile to identify the best energy offers for you.
Tip: If you don’t know the answer look for the i buttons which provide advice about some of the questions. If you’re still unsure choose the answer that is the best match.
To complete your energy profile we need to know how much energy you use. You’ll be asked to provide the billing period from your energy bill and the average daily use. You can find your average daily usage near the graph on your bill. It will be a number in MJ for gas, kWh for electricity. For example, your average daily usage might be 300MJ for gas in winter, 50MJ for gas in summer or 10kWh for electricity.
You can now review energy offers available to you with offers ranked by their annual estimated price. From here you can compare, filter and customise the list.
Tip: Why is it an annual price and not a bill price? An estimated annual price is provided as it factors changes in your energy usage depending on the season. Also, some offers are billed monthly and others are billed quarterly so providing an annual estimated price makes it easier to compare between offers.
Once you’ve selected the offers that are best for you, you can review them side by side to compare the features of each offer in more detail.
Tip: Where can I see the rates? To see an offer’s rates scroll down to ‘Offer rates and details’ or select ‘View this offer’.
Switching retailers is easy once you’ve found your best offer.
Once you’re ready to sign up you can visit the retailer’s website or call the number listed on the offer. Make sure you quote the offer name, offer ID and your postcode.
